June Favorites

    Its crazy to think that June is already over,this summer is going by so fast. I have been crazy busy this summer between teaching catechism and cheerleading, although I'm still going to try to post a lot this summer. Anyways I just thought I would try to post about some of the things I have been loving lately. It's hard to be constantly buying antiques to post about, so I hope you guys don't mind these kind of posts because I like them.  I should stop rambling and just get into the post.

Internet Stuff

- The Messy Heads- I just discovered this blog this month, and it's already my favorite thing ever. Seriously you all need to check it out. I'm really sad i missed the opportunity to buy the magazine though, I guess there is always next time :(

-YouTubers- Supreme Banana, Koi Fresco, Cartia Mallan, Nolan, Brooke Euloth, & The Raw Alignment

Food Stuff

-my favorite smoothie bowl recipe- Lately I have been loving smoothie bowls, I eat the same one everyday for lunch- 1 Banana a handful of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries and plash of coconut water. I top it off with some granola and it is seriously the best thing ever.

-LaCroix- So my family started drinking this this month and it is an understatement to say we are obsessed. It's so much better tasting and healthier than drinking pop and is a perfect drink for summer.

5 Easy Steps to an Eco-Friendly Summer!

Aside from collecting antiques, another passion of mine is caring for our planet. I really want to make sure that this planet is around long enough for my great great great great great great great (...) grand babies to enjoy. To help make this possible I'm going to try and be super Eco-friendly this summer, and I have some tips for those of you who would like to do the same! ♻

5. Reusable Shopping Bags

For all you shopaholics out there, this one is for you. People don't usually realize, but plastic shopping bags do a lot of harm to our planet. A simple, cheap (and super cute) way to fix this problem is by using reusable bags on your shopping sprees!

4. Recycling Paper

Perhaps the easiest thing on this list, but also the most overlooked. With the school year just ending, a lot of us are left with tons of unneeded paper. For example, I ended the year with over 1,104 pieces of paper! A simple solution to get rid of your unwanted paper, and help the earth is by recycling it. You can also take this a step further by cutting down on how much paper you use/buy, by paying your bills online, sending emails over real mail, and writing things down on your phone instead of paper.

3. Buy Used/Vintage

Of course I had to mention this one, it being my favorite method of recycling. A lot of people do not realize this but by getting hand-me-downs and shopping from thrift stores, you are actually helping the environment! There are many other advantages to this like saving money and supporting local business. Next time you need a new outfit check out your local thrift or consignment store- you might be surprised with what you find.

2. Take Your Bike

In case you haven't already heard, cars are SUPER bad for the environment. Some ways you can cut down on gas being admitted into the atmosphere is by taking the bus, carpooling, and most importantly riding your bike. Small changes like riding your bike places have the ability to inspire others to do the same. Riding your bike not only helps the earth, but can get you in shape too!

1. GO VEGAN!!!

This one is the most important step on this list. There are so many ways you are saving the environment by going vegan that this list would be wayyyyyy too long. But just taking small steps like cutting down on meat or going vegetarian will help the environment too. Get informed! Go do some research on the ways veganism helps the environment or watch documentaries like Cowspiracy (Netflix).

May Collective Vintage Haul

    Hey everyone, this is kinda rare, but I'm back with a second post this week! I thought I should probably post this now, before it all became irrelevant, and because I didn't want you all to think I forgot about you all. Although I may not post much, this blog is on my mind 24/7! I just want you all to remember I can get sort of busy, and though I may not be the most active online, I will never forget about you all. Also if you guys could send some good vibes my way this week, I have cheer tryouts and I'm only freaking out like A LOT! Anyways, I've really gotten off topic.

    So this month I've picked up a few small antique-y things throughout May. My first haul comes from a local antique show. From one booth I picked  up one of the best albums in musical history- Carol King Tapestry- for only $4. I am so in love with this, I have played this record over 1,000,000 times so far. At another booth at the same show, I picked up two little antique jewelry box things for one dollar a piece! These are great for storing some of my most used makeup and jewelry. But they are honestly so cute and just what I have been looking for. Lastly, at a local garage sale, I picked up this little bird plaque painting thingie for a dollar. I don't really know why, but I just thought it was so cute and I needed to buy it.

    That's it for now, I just thought I would share a couple things to keep you all updated. School is almost over for me (18 more days woop woop) so that means you can all be expecting more posts during the summer. I'm a Vegan...

    Okay, this is something I have wanted to share since I started it, but I have to admit I was very nervous. I am a vegan. I have been for 2 weeks today. I don't want to get into this too much, because I know that a lot of vegans get hate on the Internet, but I wanted to share this new part of my life with you all. I am not an expert, so I cannot tell you specific health and environmental facts about veganism, but facts aside, veganism is the right move for me. I definitely encourage anyone who is considering being vegan to just go for it, because becoming a vegan is one of the best moves I have ever made.

    If you all want to learn more about veganism, I can make more posts about it in the future. Until then I want to share with you some of the people and things that inspired me to go vegan. One you tuber who has made such a big difference in the online vegan community is Freelee the Banana Girl. She is probably one of the first vegan influences I ever had because I has occasionally watched a few of her videos over the years. I also got some inspiration from The Vintage Vegans. I loved their blog OHEMV, for all of it's vintage fashion content, and when the made the switch to vegan, they inspired me to do the same.  If any of you are interested in watching a good documentary about the animal agriculture business and veganism,  definitely watch cowspiaracy or forks over knives, which are both available on Netflix.

    So yeah, that's what has been going on with me. I was debating weather to publish this or not, but I decided to because I truly enjoy sharing my life with you all. Thrift Store Vintage Record Haul

Hey Everyone! I know that in my last post I said the next thing I would post would be a book review, but on Monday I went to a local thrift store and picked up 5 cool new records, and I wanted to post about it on here. The best part about my new vintage records is that I got all 5 for under $2!!! Ever since I got my new Crosley record player for Christmas, I hardly ever listen to music on my phone or laptop because I just love the way vinyl sounds. In my 5 tips on buying old records post (that is one of my really old embarrassing posts), I mentioned that I occasionally buy records from thrift stores, but now thrift stores are the only places I buy records from.

So this batch of vinyl is mainly instrumental, witch I like to spin while I am reading or studying or when I just want a little background noise. I also got a few sixties records which I was kind of iffy about since I am more of a fifties girl, but I ended up loving them too.

My top 10 all time favorite old Movies

    One of the things I find myself doing a lot recently is logging into to Netflix, or turning on TCM to watch some old movies. If you know me, you know that I LOVE old movies. There is just something about how they can be so funny or entertaining without being vulgar or having extreme special effects. I thought I would share some of my favorite old movies with you all so that maybe you can come to this realization also.

#1 Psycho (1960)

I'm not really that big of a fan of horror films, but there is just something about Psycho that always entices me. I think it is because of the extremely powerful performance of Anthony Perkins that sends chills down my spine, or maybe because the director Alfred Hitchcock (aka the best director ever) made this into a classic that stills haunts people in my generation over 50 years later.

#2 Bye Bye Birdie (1963)

This was probably the first old movie I ever went crazy over. I discovered it when I was eleven years old after being in a cabaret show featuring one of it's songs. This movie is just so perfect I do not even know where to begin. I would have to say that becoming obsessed with this movie is what really triggered by discovery of my love of vintage.

#3 High School Hellcats (1958)

This movie I have seen about a thousand times and it never gets old. I don't know why, but the way all the high school girls act towards each other is like really funny. I love movies that are murder mysteries or have some sort of psychotic character, so obviously this beauty had to make the list.

#4 How to marry a Millionaire (1953)

This to me is just the perfect movie to watch when I'm feeling down. The characters are all so perfect, and not to mention the cast of old Hollywood's leading ladies- Monroe, Bacall and Grable. This one is just a classic.

#5 The Wizard of Oz (1939)

Of course this one had to make the list. It wouldn't be a list of Old Hollywood classics if it didn't have a Judy Garland movie in it. I decided to include the Wizard of OZ because it was probably the first old movie I ever saw, and because come on, it's The Wizard of Oz!

#6 Pin-Up Girl (1944)

This is just about my favorite 1940s movies ever. Betty Grable is one of my favorite actresses, and I think everything about this movie is on point, from Betty's stunning hair styles to her beautiful voice.

#7 Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

I just had to include this Monroe classic,because whats not to love about this movie. It includes Marilyn Monroe's most iconic performance of "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" and features one of my favorite character's she has ever played.

#8 Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Of course there had to be an Audrey Hepburn movie on the list! I included this one because of its popularity, and because this movie is just so glamorous I can not even handle it.

#9 Diary of a High School Bride (1959)

This movie I included because like I mentioned earlier, I love a movie with a good psychotic character. You'll have to watch this movie to see what I mean, but I just love how a young girl getting stalked by her ex boyfriend is kind of over looked because she got married in high school, Classic!

#10 The Gazebo (1959)

Another example of a psycho killer movie, but in this one he didn't turn out to be a psycho killer, he only thought he was. I don't know why but I tend to laugh way too much while watching this movie for some reason. Does that make me a psycho? Probably.
