What I Learned in the Month of July

July has been amazing, and has gone by surprisingly fast. It was a month filled with long practices, new foods, new books, new adventures, and mini road trips. Instead of making a July Favorites, focusing on the material things that I loved in July, and decided to talk about some things that I learned and the experiences behind them. Here it is: What I learned in July.

1. Watch where you are stepping (especially with no shoes on.)

I learned this on my recent road trip. We were visiting Robert E. Treman State park were there was swimming, waterfalls and diving boards. While walking from the latter out of the water, and to the line for the diving board, I of coarse was not wearing shoes. And not paying attention. Naturally I stepped on a bee, and it stung me right in the middle toe. As if that wasn't bad, it ended up swelling three times it's size. Just my luck.

2. Don't read four books at once

This summer I picked up a lot of cool new books to read. The only problem is I wanted to read all of them... at the same time. This made it a lot more confusing, and I am still working on finishing those four books right now.

3. People are going to judge you, but don't let it get to you

So this summer I have kind of been taking a break with wearing makeup. It's too hot, Takes up too much time, and I shouldn't have to anyway. Of coarse once I started feeling confident about going bare faced, Someone had to ruin it. She said "Oh Theresa, you aren't wearing makeup... You look so... weird...I don't like it." and then made a discusted face. Obviously this upset me, but not too much because I realized, who cares. I'm just gonna do my thing.

4. I actually like (almost) all veggies :)

So once you become vegan, some times there aren't a lot of options when your eating out or at someone else's house. This leaves you with one option, just straight up veggies. Old me would have been like "EWWW" but new me is like "Hey this is nice, I didn't know veggies were so good." I don't know, for some reason once you go vegan vegetables just taste better. I don't know.

5.  EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE

This one is kind of obvious, and one that I am reminded of every month. I found so many cool things on the internet I wanted to buy soooooo much, but unfortunately my wallet disagreed. I guess I have to start saving my money, and stop wasting it on dumb things like tea and anything that has the word vegan on it. Oh well.

That's it. I hope you all had an amazing July and that your August will be even better! Make sure so follow me on my social media (instagram) (twitter) for more updates about my summer and my life.

Theresa

Flowers - Photo Essay

Today I thought I would share something a little different with you guys. Lately I have been experimenting with photography. I know that I am not the best, and I'm not as artsy as all the professional photographers, I mainly just like to take pictures of flowers. I took all of these pictures myself, in my garden and around my neighborhood. I have been taking pictures for this blog, and Dwelling With The Spirit, but just recently I started taking pictures just for the sake of taking pictures. I hope you enjoy them.

Mini Road Trip!

Day One: This past week my family decided spur of the moment to pack up the car and just drive, needing to get away from the crazy busy summer we have been having. We hopped in the car at 2 a.m. and in a little over thirteen hours we had made it to our first destination: Stockbridge, MA. There we visited the National Shrine of Divine Mercy. You can read more about the National Shrine of Divine Mercy on mine and my Mom's religious blog, Dwelling With The Spirit, here. After, we walked around the adorable downtown Stockbridge. There were so many cute little shops, restaurants, and old houses, it was super adorable. That night we checked into a chain hotel an hour away, to give us a head start for our long drive the next morning.

Day Two: We woke up that next morning and piled back into the car for a couple more hours to get to Ithaca, NY. The first thing we did in Ithaca was stop at Buttermilk Falls. There we went on a gorgeous hike where we encountered so many little waterfalls and gorges. After adventuring there we moved onto Robert E. Treman State Park. There we got to jump off a large diving board in front of this gorgeous waterfall. It was so much fun, and we never wanted to leave. Next we went up to Cornell University to see the beautiful buildings. I honestly fell in love. Every where you looked you were surrounded by historic beauty and I couldn't get enough of it. We also stopped by downtown Ithaca which was flooded with so many cool shops, restaurants, and more historic buildings.

Day Three: Once more, my family piled back in the car for a little under an hour to get to Watkin's Glen State Park. This was my favorite hike ever. Every couple steps you were greeted with beautiful rock formations and rushing waterfalls. So many beautiful waterfalls, each one was so uniquely different from the last. It was truly breathtaking. After embracing all that beauty, we went back to the Robert E. Treman state park, to jump off the diving board again. It was so much fun, just like the day before. Once we all did our final dive, we headed back to downtown Ithaca for one last look around. There I found this cute vintage shop Petrune, and this really cool used books and record shop. Once done walking around, we said our final goodbyes to our fun road trip and headed home.

Here is a vlog of the whole trip. When I sat down to make this video I saw that I had 47 minutes of footage. Luckily for you guys I cut down on the time by A LOT. Now its a little over 5 minutes.

Hope you all enjoyed!

OOTD- Vintage Prepster

Hey everyone! I remember back in December I said I would start doing outfit posts, but I never did. Sorry everyone! Today I wanted to get some pictures taken so that I could have a new profile picture for my social media accounts, and so I could have  picture for my about me page. It was also the perfect opportunity to make an outfit post.

First off, I know, my hair is...interesting. My hair wasn't cooperating with the way I wanted to style it, so I just threw it up in a messy braid crown thingie. I also topped the look off with some dark purple, plum-ish colored lipstick. My top is vintage with lace detailing all along the top of the front and back. My bottoms aren't actually a skirt... they are a SKORT! I know it sounds a little funny, and even looks a little funny, but they are unique and I love them. This skort isn't exactly vintage, it's more like thrifted because it's from the 90's. So my outfit is kind of a mixture of different looks witch I would define as Vintage prepster. Pictures from my photo shoot can be seen on my social media.the side of my blog, and the about me page.

So yeah, that's kinda it for this post, but I'm going to have a new post and vlog coming up in the next few days for be on the lookout for that. I hope you all like the cosmetic changes I made to my blog, I think it looks a lot better, cleaner, and more aesthetically pleasing than before.
Love,
Theresa

June Favorites

Its crazy to think that June is already over, this summer is going by so fast. I have been crazy busy this summer between teaching catechism and cheerleading, although I'm still going to try to post a lot this summer. Anyways I just thought I would try to post about some of the things I have been loving lately. It's hard to be constantly buying antiques to post about, so I hope you guys don't mind these kind of posts because I like them.  I should stop rambling and just get into the post.

Internet Stuff

- The Messy Heads- I just discovered this blog this month, and it's already my favorite thing ever. Seriously you all need to check it out. I'm really sad i missed the opportunity to buy the magazine though, I guess there is always next time :(

-YouTubers- Supreme Banana, Koi Fresco, Cartia Mallan, Nolan, Brooke Euloth, & The Raw Alignment

Food Stuff

-my favorite smoothie bowl recipe- Lately I have been loving smoothie bowls, I eat the same one everyday for lunch- 1 Banana a handful of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries and plash of coconut water. I top it off with some granola and it is seriously the best thing ever.

-LaCroix- So my family started drinking this this month and it is an understatement to say we are obsessed. It's so much better tasting and healthier than drinking pop and is a perfect drink for summer.

Fashion Stuff

Some of the fashion trends I have been loving:

Big oversized jean jackets
High waisted mom shorts + knit crop tops
Overalls
Vintage Tee's
