These past few weeks I have had the amazing opportunity to work with the awesome YouTube channel Art Candy. Chloe an Pheobe are art loving teenagers who love to make YouTube videos on their channel Art Candy about anything from fashion, beauty, travel, vlogs, and obviously art. After finding out about them, I knew I had to interview them for you guys. I also must add they have been so sweet and kind through this whole process. Definitely go subscribe to their channel, these girls are the best!
1. We go through phases of being inspired by certain youtubers and it changes all the time. Currently our videos are channelling Cartia Mallan and Emma Mercury vibes as they both have such an amazing perspective on life and their whole aesthetic is so creative and cool. We are influenced by the people who surround us, our friends, family as well as each other!
2. Obviously, you love art, what are your favorite forms or types of art? Do have any favorite artists or peices of art?
CHLOE : I love pretty much all aspects of Art however my go to would be watercolors . In terms of types of Art I like layering pieces, especially drawings on tracing paper. There's also the aspect of Textiles within Art, with this I like creating appliqué patterns - again an example of layering. Some of my favorite Artists include Lucien Freud (a fabulous portrait Artist) and Sunga Park (an architectural Artist.)
PHOEBE : I love Artists who use acrylic paints; acrylic paints work especially well with portraits as they create realistic flesh tones. I think it's really beautiful when Artists can realistically depict the human body. In terms of textiles I like hand dyed fabrics as the colours that are created are rich and vibrant. I'm a sucker for bold prints and anything from the sixties. My favorite artist at the moment is Helen Colling, her work is so unique and I love her eerie style.
3. The Art Candy YouTube channel is so interesting and unique, what inspired you to start a YouTube channel?
We wanted to build a creative platform where we could share our artistic ideas and inspire others - focusing on GCSE and now A level work. The idea of doing this stemmed from the struggle we faced when searching for Art/Textiles inspiration. It is hard to find fun and creative spaces to discover interesting ideas; it is especially hard to find people our age who are as enthusiastic about Art as we are!
4. What is the main message you are trying to send to your fans or viewers? If you could tell them one thing, what would it be?
We've never really thought about this question; if we could tell our viewers one thing it would be to be brave with your Art. We've never seen the point in tip toeing around an empty canvas in the fear of creating something dodgy, go for it! We suppose this could apply to anything in life; jump into things without fear, be spontaneous!

5. It takes a lot of confidence to put yourself out there on the internet, what is some advice you have for people struggling with confidence and insecurity?
We aren't generally outgoing people so it's hard to give much advice for this question, but we'd have to say always be confident in what you do, wear and think. Remember that your ideas are just as valid as everyone else's and in terms of being confident in your appearance wear clothes that make YOU feel great and ignore what anyone else has to say! That's what we like to do! :)
