Messy Heads Mag Review

I FINALLY GOT MY MESSY HEADS MAG! I have been wanting this ever since I found out about the Messy Heads back in the spring. When I first heard about who the Messy Heads were, it just kind of clicked. They were everything I stood for and how I wanted to express myslef but didn't have the voice or know how to do so. They changed the way I see so many current issues, myself, people around me, and the whole world. They even influenced the way I write this blog. I used to only write about superficial things like antiques and clothes, but know in addition to that I have started to put out more meaningful content. All thanks to the way they inspired me.

Anyways, back to the mag. This magazine is page after page of inspiration and empowerment. Flipping through the seemingly endless words and art, I couldn't help but feel and home, and really in touch with my inner self. Getting to read things by other people who feel the same way I do made me fell less alone in this world. Trust me when I say this is more than just  magazine, a website, or another group of wanna-be fake internet famous people- it is a revolution.

Thank you so much to all the Messy Heads out there- you changed my life.

Back to School 2016

I know this collage doesn't go with anything, I just really like it.

So let me first start off by apologizing for being so inactive. I am so incredibly sorry. Trust me when I say I would rather be blogging than spending over an hour on homework every single day. I'm going to try and get back into the swing of blogging, now that the back to school excitement is starting to die down. Thank you so much for staying with me.

So I just finished my second week of freshman year of high school. It has been crazy. A new school, new routine, and harder classes are making for a very interesting experience so far. I definitely did not know what I was getting myself into when I signed up for all advanced classes. For that I now have tons of homework upon homework upon homework. Although I am really excited for this next week of school because it is homecoming week. I get really into spirit days, so I can't wait. Also on Saturday I have homecoming, yay! I can't wait to show you all the vintage dress I bought for it!

Football season has started, so for me that means cheering along the sideline. I love me cheer team so much, and I'm not going to lie, we're pretty good. As if one extracurricular activity wasn't enough, I decided hey, why don't I just never have time to do anything and join something else. I am in my school's fall musical. It's going to be tons of fun, and I haven't acted in a few years so I am so excited to get back on stage. So, I hope I'm going to have time to breathe (and hopefully write blog posts) this semester.

Thank you all so much for sticking with me. Hopefully when all of the beginning of the year craziness dies down, I can get back to a regular posting schedule. I'll try to post something this week, but defiantly look for my post next weekend.

August 2016

August went by so unbelievably fast its hard to believe that it is actually over.  It has been a month full of camping, long cheer leading practices, lake swimming, summer homework procrastination, football games, parties, and lots of fun with my friends. Now that it is September, I have to soak up the last few days of summer before schools rips me away. Unfortunately that means lots of studying, homework and the general high school drama. Lucky for you guys, I have some exciting posts planned in September. I know that in the past my schedule has gotten kind of weird when I am in school, but I'm going to try my hardest to be releasing content frequently for you all. Anyways, this August I have had my vloging camera glued to my hand, and at the end of the month, I had 21 minutes of footage! Of coarse, I only narrowed it down into only a few minutes. Also in this vlog I tried a new style of editing, and I think I am going to stick with those vibes from now on, because I am really proud of this video. I hope you enjoy!

Summer to Fall - An Original Poem

Summer To Fall

Summer nights are fading fast, although these careless days weren't mean to last. Toes in the sand, fun in the sun, but now a new era has begun. I say farewell to our reckless love, as vibrant leaves fall from above. People will say it doesn't mean a thing, that you were just a summer fling. But I hold you closely to my heart, as changing seasons rip us apart.

So, I have never really shared my poetry or writing like this on the internet before, but I have been feeling super creative lately, so I don't know, maybe I might start sharing more.

Interview with Art Candy

These past few weeks I have had the amazing opportunity to work with the awesome YouTube channel Art Candy. Chloe an Pheobe are art loving teenagers who love to make YouTube videos on their channel Art Candy about anything from fashion, beauty, travel, vlogs, and obviously art. After finding out about them, I knew I had to interview them for you guys. I also must add they have been so sweet and kind through this whole process. Definitely go subscribe to their channel, these girls are the best!

1. Who or what are some of your inspirations in your life? Who or what has influenced the way you act or think?

1. We go through phases of being inspired by certain youtubers and it changes all the time. Currently our videos are channelling Cartia Mallan and Emma Mercury vibes as they both have such an amazing perspective on life and their whole aesthetic is so creative and cool. We are influenced by the people who surround us, our friends, family as well as each other!

2. Obviously, you love art, what are your favorite forms or types of art? Do have any favorite artists or peices of art?

CHLOE : I love pretty much all aspects of Art however my go to would be watercolors . In terms of types of Art I like layering pieces, especially drawings on tracing paper. There's also the aspect of Textiles within Art, with this I like creating appliqué patterns - again an example of layering. Some of my favorite Artists include Lucien Freud (a fabulous portrait Artist) and Sunga Park (an architectural Artist.)
PHOEBE : I love Artists who use acrylic paints; acrylic paints work especially well with portraits as they create realistic flesh tones. I think it's really beautiful when Artists can realistically depict the human body. In terms of textiles I like hand dyed fabrics as the colours that are created are rich and vibrant. I'm a sucker for bold prints and anything from the sixties. My favorite artist at the moment is Helen Colling, her work is so unique and I love her eerie style.

3. The Art Candy YouTube channel is so interesting and unique, what inspired you to start a YouTube channel?

We wanted to build a creative platform where we could share our artistic ideas and inspire others - focusing on GCSE and now A level work. The idea of doing this stemmed from the struggle we faced when searching for Art/Textiles inspiration. It is hard to find fun and creative spaces to discover interesting ideas; it is especially hard to find people our age who are as enthusiastic about Art as we are!

4. What is the main message you are trying to send to your fans or viewers? If you could tell them one thing, what would it be?

We've never really thought about this question; if we could tell our viewers one thing it would be to be brave with your Art. We've never seen the point in tip toeing around an empty canvas in the fear of creating something dodgy, go for it! We suppose this could apply to anything in life; jump into things without fear, be spontaneous!

5.  It takes a lot of confidence to put yourself out there on the internet, what is some advice you have for people struggling with confidence and insecurity?

We aren't generally outgoing people so it's hard to give much advice for this question, but we'd have to say always be confident in what you do, wear and think. Remember that your ideas are just as valid as everyone else's and in terms of being confident in your appearance wear clothes that make YOU feel great and ignore what anyone else has to say! That's what we like to do! :)

Check out their YouTube Channel here.

Interview with Bad Peaches Blog

Recently, I discovered this amazing blog, Bad Peaches, which is about anything and everything. It is run by two polish teenagers both named Karolina. Their blog is basically inspiration central, topped off with pretty mood boards and cute stories. I thought you guys might like them because of how cool and inspirational they are. Definitely go check them out! Keep reading for a super rad interview.

1. You both seem to love traveling, where is your favorite place you have traveled to and why?

KM: Verona. Last summer I went on a roadtrip to Italy with my dad and Verona was my favorite town out of all of the ones we saw. Maybe it’s because of the atmoshpere: the narrow streets, letters to Juliet on the walls; or maybe it’s because deep down I’m a hopeless romantic who will blindly fall in love with anything that has to do with Romeo and Juliet. I don’t really know why, but that place stuck with me.
KB: My favourite place I have ever visited is New York. It has always been my dream. Guess dreams do come true sometimes. I always wanted to live in the centre of a huge city like New York. I adored everything about it. Tons of people, buildings that touch the sky and amazing food. Some people may say that the city is dirty and smells bad, but I loved it anyways. You know that feeling, when you are abroad and after some time you just want to go home and sleep in your bed? Well this is the first place I haven’t experienced that feeling in. New York felt like home from the minute I saw it and I felt tears in my eyes when Manhattan appeared. I was so unbelievably happy. I loved it so much I even started considering moving to New York! This was the best trip of my entire life!

2. I can tell you guys love reading, just like me, What do you think are some good books everyone should read and why?

KM: I have a good answer for this one! „I’ll Give You the Sun” by Jandy Nelson. This is a story about two twins, Noah and Jude, them growing up but also growing apart. It’s absolutely beautiful. Me and my friends are obsessed with this book, we all read the same copy and highlighted the quotes that we liked in different colors.
KB: Wow that’s probably the hardest question you could ask me! I loved almost every book I have read. They were all amazing in they own special way. It took me a while to pick these 2 books. Both of them I adored and couldn’t stop reading. Probably my favourite one is the “Clockwork Angel” by Cassandra Clare. This book was AMAZING. I fell in love with the story and the characters ( especially Will, who is this hot mysterious guy). This story is set in the shadowhunters world, which you can also know from the “City of Bones”. Another on of my faves is  “Obsidian” by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I love the main character, mainly because she’s also super into reading! I also absolutely adored the book KM talked about, so be sure to check it out as well. All of these books are my favourites of the favourites and I just couldn’t pick one.

3. Your blog is so awesome and professional, and you haven't even been blogging that long! Who or what inspired you to start blogging?

KM: Honestly, I have wanted to start a blog for as long as I can remember. But I was always scared to. I was sure that I wasn’t interesting or creative enough and that I would only embarass myself on the internet. But this summer I thought: ‚Hey, might as well give it a try. KB, do you want to start a blog?’ and that’s how Bad Peaches were born, haha.
KB: Yeah, it was KM who initiated the idea. I always wanted to start something like this, but never really had the time to do it. And let’s admit it, I am a really lazy person. When we were on the trip to Zakopane - this summer - we were a little bored. When she asked me what do I think about starting a blog together I immediately said yes. The rest of our trip we spent planning and writing. I’m really glad we decided to do this, I have been loving it since the day we started.

4. You both have such a unique sense of style, what influences your fashion choices, and where to do you draw style inspiration from?

KM: Oh my God my style is all over the place, but thank you! My favorite thing to do when I’m lacking fashion inspiration is people watching. I look at the people around me, notice the details, see what I like. Yesterday I saw a 40-year old lady wearing the CUTEST platfrom sandals and I made a  mental note to get myself a similar pair.
KB: My answer to this question might actually disappoint you. Recently I have really been into vintage and boho clothes, but I don’t really know if I have any inspiration. I just wander around stores and pick clothes that I like. And I also like to look on some photos on tumblr or instagram. I always find it interesting what other people are wearing right now. I pick an item from one person and another one from someone else and that’s probably how I create my style. I take what other people wear, but style it differently.

5. If you guys could travel back in time, when would you go and why?

KM: Probably the 90s. Watching movies from that era always puts me in a nostalgic mood. I wish I was a 90s child, unfortunately I was born in 2000!
KB: If I could, I would probably go back to the early 70’s. I have been loving the 70’s fashion for a while now. I think it looks so unique and cool. Well at that time it probably wasn’t unique, but it would still be unique for me. All of these clothes fascinate me and it would be awesome to go back in time and see how people originally styled it.

6. It takes a lot of confidence to put yourself out there on the internet, what is some advice you for people struggling with confidence and insecurity?

KM: My biggest tip is to remember that nobody is perfect, and nobody is supposed to be perfect. Everyone has insecurities, everyone feels self-conscious sometimes. You are just a human being who’s trying to do what makes you happy. So do it!! Taking that first, biggest step (finally making the decision to create a blog) was definitely the hardest part for me. But now that I’ve done it, I feel great!
KB: I would say to peel off the patch. You just have to do it. If you sit at home and think about people hating on you for doing what you love, you will just worry yourself to death. Sure there will always be people who won’t like what you’re doing, but you have to concentrate on the positive comments (not on the mean ones), because they are what matters. If you’re really insecure and you’re afraid that your friends will laugh at you - don’t tell them that you started a blog or a youtube channel. At least not at first. Show them your site when it looks exactly the way you want it and you're proud of your hard work which had brought the intended effect. But really if your friends would laugh at this, they wouldn’t be your real friends. You can always start a blog with someone, like I did. That way I always have someone who I can ask for advice or help.

Vintage Estate Sale Haul

Hey everyone!!! I'm so sorry for the weird posting schedule. This whole August's post schedule is going to be a little funny because I am traveling and sometimes won't have access to Internet, so bear with me. Thanks in advance for putting up with my craziness.

So anyways, today my mom and I were driving to the store, when we saw a sign for an estate sale. Obviously we had to go, being the garage and estate sale lovers that we are. This was one of the best estate sales I had been to.

I was so lucky to find 6 records there, adding up to a total of $2!!! I got three of the "Best of the 50s and 60s" records for the years '50, '54, '57, '62, '65, and '69. I have been listening to them non stop since I got them a few hours ago. I'm actually listening to them while writing this. I also got a Loretta Lynn Greatest Hits record, Ragtime Piano Gal record, and a Roaring 20's record.

In the very back of the basement, I found two hidden gems, just waiting to be scooped up by me. The first was a blue vintage men's Hawaiian shirt, with many different color flowers. I don't know why I love it so much, I just do. I also found this oh-so-adorable vintage candy striper dress. It is probably my favorite vintage clothing find ever. I got each for a dollar a piece. I plan on wearing the candy striper dress for Halloween, and making a cute costume out of it. I plan on pairing the Hawaiian shirt with some worn out/faded high waisted shorts.

Hopefully I can maybe make an outfit post about these cute items, and get a lot of dance parties out of my new records. Again I'm so sorry for the funky posting schedule, it will go back to normal soon, I promise. Thanks for reading!

August Reading List

As you all probably know by now, I love reading. I only mention it like all the time. So I thought I would share with you all what I am planning on reading this month. Hopefully you can maybe find a new book to read this August.

1. Into The Wild

This first one is one of my absolute favorites. It's a story that truly connects with me on an intense level. It's such a deep story, that holds so many profound messages about life and how it should be lived. Whenever I read this story I always get so attached to the main character, because of the way he can look at the world through such a different pair of eyes, and somehow it all makes sense. Definitely a must read for anyone, it doesn't matter which genre you like.

2. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

I just picked this book up from the store a day ago, and although I haven't had the chance to read it yet, I am a hard core Harry Potter fan, and I have a hunch it will be amazing. From what my sister and the Internet have told me about the book, I can tell its going to be action packed, and I won't be able to put it down.

3. How to be a Heroine

I started reading this book in July, but I only had the chance to read the first 3 chapters. So far it is really amazing and empowering, and jam packed with feminist inspiration. It's all about important females from influential books, and what can be learned from them. So obviously this book is just my type, and I think some of you would love it too.

4. The Sun Also Rises

Recently I have decided that I wanted to read more classic literature, so naturally I picked up some Hemingway. I have heard so many good things about his books, I mean obviously he is one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. One of his most popular books is The Sun Also Rises, so I decided to start with this one.

5. The Alchemist

This one I have to read for my summer reading assignment for English. Most of the time I don't end up liking books I have to read for school, but I hope this one is different. I have heard some good things about it. Lets just hope it's not too hard to write an essay on.

Thats all for this month, if you want to hear if I liked these books or not, I'll mention it in a favorites post sometime soon.

What I Learned in the Month of July

July has been amazing, and has gone by surprisingly fast. It was a month filled with long practices, new foods, new books, new adventures, and mini road trips. Instead of making a July Favorites, focusing on the material things that I loved in July, and decided to talk about some things that I learned and the experiences behind them. Here it is: What I learned in July.

1. Watch where you are stepping (especially with no shoes on.)

I learned this on my recent road trip. We were visiting Robert E. Treman State park were there was swimming, waterfalls and diving boards. While walking from the latter out of the water, and to the line for the diving board, I of coarse was not wearing shoes. And not paying attention. Naturally I stepped on a bee, and it stung me right in the middle toe. As if that wasn't bad, it ended up swelling three times it's size. Just my luck.

2. Don't read four books at once

This summer I picked up a lot of cool new books to read. The only problem is I wanted to read all of them... at the same time. This made it a lot more confusing, and I am still working on finishing those four books right now.

3. People are going to judge you, but don't let it get to you

So this summer I have kind of been taking a break with wearing makeup. It's too hot, Takes up too much time, and I shouldn't have to anyway. Of coarse once I started feeling confident about going bare faced, Someone had to ruin it. She said "Oh Theresa, you aren't wearing makeup... You look so... weird...I don't like it." and then made a discusted face. Obviously this upset me, but not too much because I realized, who cares. I'm just gonna do my thing.

4. I actually like (almost) all veggies :)

So once you become vegan, some times there aren't a lot of options when your eating out or at someone else's house. This leaves you with one option, just straight up veggies. Old me would have been like "EWWW" but new me is like "Hey this is nice, I didn't know veggies were so good." I don't know, for some reason once you go vegan vegetables just taste better. I don't know.

5.  EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE

This one is kind of obvious, and one that I am reminded of every month. I found so many cool things on the internet I wanted to buy soooooo much, but unfortunately my wallet disagreed. I guess I have to start saving my money, and stop wasting it on dumb things like tea and anything that has the word vegan on it. Oh well.

That's it. I hope you all had an amazing July and that your August will be even better! Make sure so follow me on my social media (instagram) (twitter) for more updates about my summer and my life.
Love,
Theresa

Flowers - Photo Essay

Today I thought I would share something a little different with you guys. Lately I have been experimenting with photography. I know that I am not the best, and I'm not as artsy as all the professional photographers, I mainly just like to take pictures of flowers. I took all of these pictures myself, in my garden and around my neighborhood. I have been taking pictures for this blog, and Dwelling With The Spirit, but just recently I started taking pictures just for the sake of taking pictures. I hope you enjoy them.

Mini Road Trip!

Day One: This past week my family decided spur of the moment to pack up the car and just drive, needing to get away from the crazy busy summer we have been having. We hopped in the car at 2 a.m. and in a little over thirteen hours we had made it to our first destination: Stockbridge, MA. There we visited the National Shrine of Divine Mercy. You can read more about the National Shrine of Divine Mercy on mine and my Mom's religious blog, Dwelling With The Spirit, here. After, we walked around the adorable downtown Stockbridge. There were so many cute little shops, restaurants, and old houses, it was super adorable. That night we checked into a chain hotel an hour away, to give us a head start for our long drive the next morning.

Day Two: We woke up that next morning and piled back into the car for a couple more hours to get to Ithaca, NY. The first thing we did in Ithaca was stop at Buttermilk Falls. There we went on a gorgeous hike where we encountered so many little waterfalls and gorges. After adventuring there we moved onto Robert E. Treman State Park. There we got to jump off a large diving board in front of this gorgeous waterfall. It was so much fun, and we never wanted to leave. Next we went up to Cornell University to see the beautiful buildings. I honestly fell in love. Every where you looked you were surrounded by historic beauty and I couldn't get enough of it. We also stopped by downtown Ithaca which was flooded with so many cool shops, restaurants, and more historic buildings.

Day Three: Once more, my family piled back in the car for a little under an hour to get to Watkin's Glen State Park. This was my favorite hike ever. Every couple steps you were greeted with beautiful rock formations and rushing waterfalls. So many beautiful waterfalls, each one was so uniquely different from the last. It was truly breathtaking. After embracing all that beauty, we went back to the Robert E. Treman state park, to jump off the diving board again. It was so much fun, just like the day before. Once we all did our final dive, we headed back to downtown Ithaca for one last look around. There I found this cute vintage shop Petrune, and this really cool used books and record shop. Once done walking around, we said our final goodbyes to our fun road trip and headed home.

Here is a vlog of the whole trip. When I sat down to make this video I saw that I had 47 minutes of footage. Luckily for you guys I cut down on the time by A LOT. Now its a little over 5 minutes.

Hope you all enjoyed!

OOTD- Vintage Prepster

Hey everyone! I remember back in December I said I would start doing outfit posts, but I never did. Sorry everyone! Today I wanted to get some pictures taken so that I could have a new profile picture for my social media accounts, and so I could have  picture for my about me page. It was also the perfect opportunity to make an outfit post.

First off, I know, my hair is...interesting. My hair wasn't cooperating with the way I wanted to style it, so I just threw it up in a messy braid crown thingie. I also topped the look off with some dark purple, plum-ish colored lipstick. My top is vintage with lace detailing all along the top of the front and back. My bottoms aren't actually a skirt... they are a SKORT! I know it sounds a little funny, and even looks a little funny, but they are unique and I love them. This skort isn't exactly vintage, it's more like thrifted because it's from the 90's. So my outfit is kind of a mixture of different looks witch I would define as Vintage prepster. Pictures from my photo shoot can be seen on my social media.the side of my blog, and the about me page.

So yeah, that's kinda it for this post, but I'm going to have a new post and vlog coming up in the next few days for be on the lookout for that. I hope you all like the cosmetic changes I made to my blog, I think it looks a lot better, cleaner, and more aesthetically pleasing than before.
Love,
Theresa

June Favorites

Its crazy to think that June is already over, this summer is going by so fast. I have been crazy busy this summer between teaching catechism and cheerleading, although I'm still going to try to post a lot this summer. Anyways I just thought I would try to post about some of the things I have been loving lately. It's hard to be constantly buying antiques to post about, so I hope you guys don't mind these kind of posts because I like them.  I should stop rambling and just get into the post.

Internet Stuff

- The Messy Heads- I just discovered this blog this month, and it's already my favorite thing ever. Seriously you all need to check it out. I'm really sad i missed the opportunity to buy the magazine though, I guess there is always next time :(

-YouTubers- Supreme Banana, Koi Fresco, Cartia Mallan, Nolan, Brooke Euloth, & The Raw Alignment

Food Stuff

-my favorite smoothie bowl recipe- Lately I have been loving smoothie bowls, I eat the same one everyday for lunch- 1 Banana a handful of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries and plash of coconut water. I top it off with some granola and it is seriously the best thing ever.

-LaCroix- So my family started drinking this this month and it is an understatement to say we are obsessed. It's so much better tasting and healthier than drinking pop and is a perfect drink for summer.

Fashion Stuff

Some of the fashion trends I have been loving:

Bandanas
Big oversized jean jackets
High waisted mom shorts + knit crop tops
Overalls
Vintage Tee's
everything 1970s

Beauty Stuff

Some Beauty trends I've been loving:

Thin braids+Messy Hair
Bushy eyebrows+no makeup
Thick messy eyeliner

Music, Books & Netflix Stuff

music- The Beatles, The New Seekers, Melanie Safka

Book- The Astronaut Wives Club

Netflix- Call The Midwife, The Sixties & The Seventies documentaries

That's pretty much all my favorites for now, I hope you all have a safe and fun fourth of July, and a great rest of your summer!

5 Easy Steps to an Eco-Friendly Summer!

Aside from collecting antiques, another passion of mine is caring for our planet. I really want to make sure that this planet is around long enough for my great great great great great great great (...) grand babies to enjoy. To help make this possible I'm going to try and be super Eco-friendly this summer, and I have some tips for those of you who would like to do the same! ♻

5. Reusable Shopping Bags

For all you shopaholics out there, this one is for you. People don't usually realize, but plastic shopping bags do a lot of harm to our planet. A simple, cheap (and super cute) way to fix this problem is by using reusable bags on your shopping sprees!

4. Recycling Paper

Perhaps the easiest thing on this list, but also the most overlooked. With the school year just ending, a lot of us are left with tons of unneeded paper. For example, I ended the year with over 1,104 pieces of paper! A simple solution to get rid of your unwanted paper, and help the earth is by recycling it. You can also take this a step further by cutting down on how much paper you use/buy, by paying your bills online, sending emails over real mail, and writing things down on your phone instead of paper.

3. Buy Used/Vintage

Of course I had to mention this one, it being my favorite method of recycling. A lot of people do not realize this but by getting hand-me-downs and shopping from thrift stores, you are actually helping the environment! There are many other advantages to this like saving money and supporting local business. Next time you need a new outfit check out your local thrift or consignment store- you might be surprised with what you find.

2. Take Your Bike

In case you haven't already heard, cars are SUPER bad for the environment. Some ways you can cut down on gas being admitted into the atmosphere is by taking the bus, carpooling, and most importantly riding your bike. Small changes like riding your bike places have the ability to inspire others to do the same. Riding your bike not only helps the earth, but can get you in shape too!

1. GO VEGAN!!!

This one is the most important step on this list. There are so many ways you are saving the environment by going vegan that this list would be wayyyyyy too long. But just taking small steps like cutting down on meat or going vegetarian will help the environment too. Get informed! Go do some research on the ways veganism helps the environment or watch documentaries like Cowspiracy (Netflix).

I hope this post inspired some of you to have a more eco-friendly summer. If you have any more tips to share or just want to say hi, leave me a comment or contact me through social media. (buttons on the upper right corner of my blog). It's almost summer for me so get ready for more posts! I should probably be studying for exams, because I have them all this last week of school, but blogging is more fun! <3 And for those of you who read my last post, yes, I ended up making the cheer team that I wanted! Well I'm going to go study now, bye!

Theresa

May Collective Vintage Haul

Hey everyone, this is kinda rare, but I'm back with a second post this week! I thought I should probably post this now, before it all became irrelevant, and because I didn't want you all to think I forgot about you all. Although I may not post much, this blog is on my mind 24/7! I just want you all to remember I can get sort of busy, and though I may not be the most active online, I will never forget about you all. Also if you guys could send some good vibes my way this week, I have cheer tryouts and I'm only freaking out like A LOT! Anyways, I've really gotten off topic.

So this month I've picked up a few small antique-y things throughout May. My first haul comes from a local antique show. From one booth I picked  up one of the best albums in musical history- Carol King Tapestry- for only $4. I am so in love with this, I have played this record over 1,000,000 times so far. At another booth at the same show, I picked up two little antique jewelry box things for one dollar a piece! These are great for storing some of my most used makeup and jewelry. But they are honestly so cute and just what I have been looking for. Lastly, at a local garage sale, I picked up this little bird plaque painting thingie for a dollar. I don't really know why, but I just thought it was so cute and I needed to buy it.

That's it for now, I just thought I would share a couple things to keep you all updated. School is almost over for me (18 more days woop woop) so that means you can all be expecting more posts during the summer. I might be a little busy with cheer (if I make it) but I will be sure to make time for this blog. Until next time, I love you all. Have a great day!
Love,
Theresa

I'm a Vegan...

Okay, this is something I have wanted to share since I started it, but I have to admit I was very nervous. I am a vegan. I have been for 2 weeks today. I don't want to get into this too much, because I know that a lot of vegans get hate on the Internet, but I wanted to share this new part of my life with you all. I am not an expert, so I cannot tell you specific health and environmental facts about veganism, but facts aside, veganism is the right move for me. I definitely encourage anyone who is considering being vegan to just go for it, because becoming a vegan is one of the best moves I have ever made.

If you all want to learn more about veganism, I can make more posts about it in the future. Until then I want to share with you some of the people and things that inspired me to go vegan. One you tuber who has made such a big difference in the online vegan community is Freelee the Banana Girl. She is probably one of the first vegan influences I ever had because I has occasionally watched a few of her videos over the years. I also got some inspiration from The Vintage Vegans. I loved their blog OHEMV, for all of it's vintage fashion content, and when the made the switch to vegan, they inspired me to do the same.  If any of you are interested in watching a good documentary about the animal agriculture business and veganism,  definitely watch cowspiaracy or forks over knives, which are both available on Netflix.

So yeah, that's what has been going on with me. I was debating weather to publish this or not, but I decided to because I truly enjoy sharing my life with you all. I hope this post maybe inspired you a little, or at least made you think. If you guys like these kinds of posts make sure to tell my via social media (click on the icons to the left) or by email. Thanks for reading, and stay on the look out for another post very soon!

Thrift Store Vintage Record Haul

Hey Everyone! I know that in my last post I said the next thing I would post would be a book review, but on Monday I went to a local thrift store and picked up 5 cool new records, and I wanted to post about it on here. The best part about my new vintage records is that I got all 5 for under $2!!! Ever since I got my new Crosley record player for Christmas, I hardly ever listen to music on my phone or laptop because I just love the way vinyl sounds. In my 5 tips on buying old records post (that is one of my really old embarrassing posts), I mentioned that I occasionally buy records from thrift stores, but now thrift stores are the only places I buy records from.

So this batch of vinyl is mainly instrumental, witch I like to spin while I am reading or studying or when I just want a little background noise. I also got a few sixties records which I was kind of iffy about since I am more of a fifties girl, but I ended up loving them too.

This haul includes:
Tommy Dorsey's Dance Party
Ray Conniff - Memories are Made of This
Jim Reeves - A Touch of Velvet
More Leslie Uggams on TV
Andre Kostelantez - Strauss Waltzes

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably recognize my Crosley record player and polka dot curtains lol. Sorry I don't have pictures of the individual albums, my camera was acting up. If you want to hear some of these records, knowing me a few of them will be up on my Instagram in the future. In the coming weeks I will be announcing something very special, so make sure your staying up to date on my blog and following me on Twitter and Instagram so that you don't miss it. Hopefully I will be getting that book review I promised all of you up soon! Thanks for reading!

My top 10 all time favorite old Movies

One of the things I find myself doing a lot recently is logging into to Netflix, or turning on TCM to watch some old movies. If you know me, you know that I LOVE old movies. There is just something about how they can be so funny or entertaining without being vulgar or having extreme special effects. I thought I would share some of my favorite old movies with you all so that maybe you can come to this realization also.

#1 Psycho (1960)

I'm not really that big of a fan of horror films, but there is just something about Psycho that always entices me. I think it is because of the extremely powerful performance of Anthony Perkins that sends chills down my spine, or maybe because the director Alfred Hitchcock (aka the best director ever) made this into a classic that stills haunts people in my generation over 50 years later.

#2 Bye Bye Birdie (1963)

This was probably the first old movie I ever went crazy over. I discovered it when I was eleven years old after being in a cabaret show featuring one of it's songs. This movie is just so perfect I do not even know where to begin. I would have to say that becoming obsessed with this movie is what really triggered by discovery of my love of vintage.

#3 High School Hellcats (1958)

This movie I have seen about a thousand times and it never gets old. I don't know why, but the way all the high school girls act towards each other is like really funny. I love movies that are murder mysteries or have some sort of psychotic character, so obviously this beauty had to make the list.

#4 How to marry a Millionaire (1953)

This to me is just the perfect movie to watch when I'm feeling down. The characters are all so perfect, and not to mention the cast of old Hollywood's leading ladies- Monroe, Bacall and Grable. This one is just a classic.

#5 The Wizard of Oz (1939)

Of course this one had to make the list. It wouldn't be a list of Old Hollywood classics if it didn't have a Judy Garland movie in it. I decided to include the Wizard of OZ because it was probably the first old movie I ever saw, and because come on, it's The Wizard of Oz!

#6 Pin-Up Girl (1944)

This is just about my favorite 1940s movies ever. Betty Grable is one of my favorite actresses, and I think everything about this movie is on point, from Betty's stunning hair styles to her beautiful voice.

#7 Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

I just had to include this Monroe classic, because whats not to love about this movie. It includes Marilyn Monroe's most iconic performance of "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" and features one of my favorite character's she has ever played.

#8 Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Of course there had to be an Audrey Hepburn movie on the list! I included this one because of its popularity, and because this movie is just so glamorous I can not even handle it.

#9 Diary of a High School Bride (1959)

This movie I included because like I mentioned earlier, I love a movie with a good psychotic character. You'll have to watch this movie to see what I mean, but I just love how a young girl getting stalked by her ex boyfriend is kind of over looked because she got married in high school, Classic!

#10 The Gazebo (1959)

Another example of a psycho killer movie, but in this one he didn't turn out to be a psycho killer, he only thought he was. I don't know why but I tend to laugh way too much while watching this movie for some reason. Does that make me a psycho? Probably.

That's all the movies I have for now, but I think I may do another post like this again in the future. Tell me in the comments what type of list you would like to see next. If you are interested in seeing any of the movies I listed above, some of them are on Netflix, and the others I own or watched on TCM. After this I'm going to be writing a book review, so if you need something new to read, stay tuned. Thanks for reading!

Pictures from around the room

Hey everyone! I didn't have anything cool to post about this month, so I thought I would just post some pictures of nick-nacks around my room. They aren't anything that special, but my blog seems a little lonely these days. Hope you all enjoy!

super closer up of the sewing machine
my record player spinning a Connie Francis Vinyl
antique jewelry box
antique horse shoe
the adorable back of my Connie Francis record
my favorite goose figurine on a stack of old books

So I realize this wasn't anything special, I just wanted to make sure you all still remember I'm here. I know I say this a lot, but I will really try to post more. I don't really get the chance to go antique shopping all that often, so I don't really know what to post about. I'm on spring break right now, so that means I'll be able to write a few more posts to go up soon, so stay tuned for that. I also hope you enjoy the face lift I gave my blog. I think I finally got it how I want it!
Love,
Theresa
